Ms. Pierotti has her Bachelor of Arts degree in music from UC Davis where she was concertmistress of the UCD Symphony. She has studied and performed extensively throughout the Bay Area. Her teachers have included Roy Malan, Zaven Melikian and Mariko Smiley. She played for many years every summer at the Tahoe Music Festival, and performed with the North Bay Opera for three seasons, where she was the concertmistress for two of those seasons. She currently performs in the first violin section of the Napa Symphony, Caspita Strings Variations and the Armonioso Trio. She played electric violin with the now defunct band, "Celtic Elvis" and is a member of the Music Teacher's Association and Musicians Union Local 6.
Cecelia first came to Vallejo in 1976 to found a string program through the City of Vallejo, to replace the missing string programs in the school district. At any given time her studio has as many as 40 students studying and performing!
Since the Spring of 2008, Cecelia has been exploring the wonders of voice over classes in Sausalito, California. She started it out of curiosity and as a way to enhance her portfolio in the future, but it has turned into the most fun and one of the most difficult things she has done by far (besides learning and playing violin )! An interesting "side effect" of the classes, besides slipping into characters on occasion during a lesson, is just what a new and exciting perspective it has given her teaching! It has brought her a renewed energy and fun techniques to bring out the musician in her students. If for no other reason, she will continue this pursuit as a way to connect better with her students!
Recently, at the request of the principal, Greg Allison, of Glen Cove elementary school, she started teaching a violin class with the hopes of expanding to other schools in the community.
Many of her students have gone on to perform in local orchestras and Universities in and out of the state.
“Cecelia is Vallejo's #1 violin instructor. She combines genuine interest in her young pupils with a firm professional and pedagogical foundation for their musical development. Pupils who start with Cecelia stay with her both because she continues to challenge them musically and because she becomes their friend and mentor in every sense of the word. She approaches each and every pupil in a manner that best unlocks their musical talents. Each pupil is treated as a person and as a unique individual. She combines the warmth of a friend with the inculcation of personal musical discipline and dedication. I can recommend her as a friend, colleague and violinist”
